What Are The Top MMO Games?

When it comes to the world MMOs and MMORPGs, finding the right game isn’t always easy. There are more choices now than ever, and it’s important just to play an MMORPG because it’s fun. What’s fun for one person doesn’t always mesh with what’s fun for another though. The games designated Top MMO Games on MMOBro are therefore comprised of a number of different types of MMOs. Some of them are in the MMO-lite category and so may not be as massive as other offerings. Since people visit from all sorts of backgrounds, this list caters to a broad spectrum.

Quality is of course considered on an editorial level. This quality is assessed based on what the game does well and what it tries to do well. For example, a given browser MMO excels in casual play with automated combat. The combat itself may actually take several steps back. However, that’s not a priority of our example game. For those reasons, it doesn’t mean we wouldn’t set it alongside other ‘top MMO games’. Original reviews serve as a deeper look into these facets of gameplay.

We aim for reviews of lengths that are easy to digest in a work break or while alt+tabbed out of another game. The reviews take an honest approach towards the core values, positives, and negatives for each MMO and MMORPG listed. No game is perfect, and there are always trade-offs. Researching whether the negative trade-offs are acceptable is always going to be a matter of personal preference. If interested in a simple numerical score, we also allow users to rate games on a 5-star scale (with half stars). Keep in mind this may or may not accurately access the strength of a fit on a said personal level.

Top MMO games do typically have communities with dedicated players who feel passionately about the game. Involving oneself with a community is sometimes difficult outside of game, but some do use official forums or subreddits to hang out. The more invested in a community the players are, the bigger the draw will be to continue playing. To avoid getting too involved prematurely, focus on the gameplay at first. I think we’ve all been sucked into less enjoyable games because of friends. It’s definitely possible to find the right place with the right people – it just sometimes takes a few tries.

Going back to the original topic, what does it take to qualify as an entrant on this top MMO games list? Honestly, the qualification is just that the game does something well in a somewhat unique fashion. We do rank games based on overall popularity, uniqueness, and quality features. After that, we do recommend our MMO game reviews for more in depth analysis. But if the tl;dr sounds good then we say give the game a try. There’s no better MMORPG review than the one you write yourself!
